Hello and welcome! My name is Taylor and I am the clinical therapist and owner of The Empathy Nest, PLLC. I am extremely passionate about supporting children to have a positive view of themselves. I also enjoy supporting parents and caregivers with concerns that often create a disconnect in their relationships with children. These concerns often deal with divorce, grief, perfection behaviors, racial identity and development, and age-appropriate behaviors that parents are sometimes unsure of how to deal with.

I was raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina and moved to Charlotte, NC in 2011 to complete my degree in Elementary Education and Children’s Literature at UNC Charlotte. I grew up with a focus to become a Kindergarten Teacher, but that changed during my clinicals and student teaching experience. I worked with elementary students who were under a lot of pressure and stress. These children were balancing endless expectations at home and in their community (so were their loved ones). I wanted to strengthen the relationships I had with my students, and felt a passion to support their need to survive. Oprah Winfrey said, “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you”. I feel so excited when I’m supporting mental health and wellness in children. I use a Child-Centered Play Therapy approach that incorporates expressive arts depending on the concern and need of the child. Along the way, I advocate for a strong parent-child relationship and support transformation in that area, reminding adults not to lose sight of the child when there is a concern.
